OBJECTIVE
Lake Environmental Resources required design and permitting services for a sand mine and a 30-acre construction and demolition (C&D) debris landfill in Lake County, Florida.
PROJECT SCOPE
- Conducted community meetings.
- Drilled Standard Penetration Test (ASTM D1586) and auger borings.
- Installed shallow and deep monitoring wells.
- Performed slug testing to calculate groundwater flow velocities.
- Prepared annual sand mine reports.
- Performed groundwater flow modeling using MODFLOW.
- Completed hydrogeologic, engineering, operations, and closure reports.
- Testified at administrative hearing as expert witness in support of permit application.
- Ongoing work includes groundwater and gas sampling and reporting under Rule 62-701, Florida Administrative Code.
RESULTS
- Obtained Lake County and Florida Department of Environmental Protection solid waste permit and Environmental Resource Permit (ERP) ahead of schedule.
